So, as I’ve detailed over on my blog, I’ll be competing in RAAM this summer. RAAM stands for Race Acros AMerica. (RAA doesn’t quite roll off the tongue like RAAM.) RAAM is a crazy, non-stop bike race from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD in about 8 days.
8 days. To ride. Across. The Nation.
Seeing as how I never really road ride or race apart from training, over the past few years I have spent about $100 on all things road bike related. Thus, I have a close to 20 pound road bike with a lot of old worn out parts that fits wrong. Racing Across AMerica on that tank probably wouldn’t yield optimal results or happiness.
Lucky for me, the Marin Fairy of Kindness bestowed upon me a new velocipedular machine, one so very fancy that I had to pinch myself after lifting it a few times.
OHHH YEAH!
Marin Stelvio Dura-Ace…In my dorm room. T3 (Tube To Tube) construction. CXR carbon. FSA K-Force group.
Meet the steed that will carry me across the country this summer.
Ride report coming soon…
